Princess Haya meets Pope Francis ahead of Haiti visit

In Her capacity as UN Messenger of Peace and Chairperson of International Humanitarian City (IHC), HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, had an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church, Bishop of Rome, at the Vatican, as part of a one-day official visit to Rome.

HRH Princess Haya then attended the ‘United for Peace’ football match and immediately after the direction of Sheikh Mohammed, met an airlift from Dubai’s International Humanitarian City (IHC) at Rome Fiumicino Airport (they were refueling in Rome), to travel to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to oversee a delivery of 90 metric tonnes of relief supplies to those affected by Hurricane Matthew.

During her meeting with His Holiness Pope Francis, HRH Princess Haya engaged in a conversation about hunger, as both individuals are advocates of combating hunger for the millions of people who suffer around the world. Princess Haya briefed His Holiness about Dubai’s International Humanitarian City, and how it has grown since 2003, under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed, to become the largest and busiest logistics hub for humanitarian aid in the world.

She also informed His Holiness about Sheikh Mohammed’s recently launched initiatives - the first being the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Tolerance, which will lay the base for developing tolerant young Arab leaders and support a promotion of values that reflect tolerance and openness, and the second, the International Institute of Tolerance (the first of its kind in the Arab world), which will offer advice and views on policies to promote values of tolerance among nations, publish studies and research reports to instill the principle of acceptance among youth.

Following the meeting, Princess Haya attended the latest edition of the Soccer Match for Peace at Rome’s Olympic Stadium. The Italian organisations UNITALSI (Society for the Transport of Sick People to Lourdes and International Sanctuaries) and AMLIB (Non-for-profit organization for Love and Freedom) joined forces with the International Organisation of Pontifical Right SCHOLAS to organise the match for charity, ‘United for Peace’.

As part of the opening ceremony, HRH Princess Haya was asked by the Vatican to plant an olive tree of peace at the Olympic Stadium.

Also in attendance of the match were representatives from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace, who were there to support Ismail Matar, Star of Al Wahda Club and the UAE National Team.

Following the match, Princess Haya then immediately flew to Haiti on an IHC airlift to personally deliver and oversee the distribution of relief supplies, after Hurricane Matthew abruptly demolished the island last week. At least 1.4 million people require immediate attention, with almost 300,000 people residing in temporary shelters as many small towns and villages have been wiped off the map. Princess Haya previously visited Port-au-Prince on a similar mission after the equally devastating earthquake hit in 2010.

The aid shipment was organised by the International Humanitarian City per the instruction of Sheikh Mohammed, and included supplies from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot and its partners including Save the Children, Handicap International, World Vision International, Catholic Relief Services, USAID and Lutheran World Relief.

The aid, which was transported on a 747B-400 personally owned by Sheikh Mohammed, is valued at more than $350,000 and is estimated to impact approximately 340,000 people. It includes water purification units, mosquito nets, medical supplies, tents and other support equipment that will be distributed among those in need. The focus of the aid shipment (as cholera is a growing concern) is facilitating access to a sufficient supply of quality water, education, shelter, child protection, health and nutrition for those affected.

The UAE has always played an important role in providing aid and assistance during disasters and crises. Last month, per the direction of Sheikh Mohammed, over 100 tonnes of aid were delivered to Entebbe, Uganda for 60,000 South Sudanese refugees that had fled the ongoing conflict in South Sudan.

Etihad Airways today announced the introduction of an additional daily year-round service between Abu Dhabi and Dublin which increases frequency on the route to 14 flights a week, effective from 1 April 2017.

Kevin Knight, Etihad Aviation Group Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, said, "We are delighted to announce the Dublin frequencies moving from a seasonal double daily to twice-daily year-round service.

This is a commitment to the Irish market and demonstrates our confidence to dedicate capacity throughout the year on a route that has enjoyed tremendous support from travel partners. It also reflects our strategy to offer more flexibility, greater convenience and increased choice."

The second daily operation, from the beginning of the Summer 2017 season, reflects Etihad Airways’ long-term commitment to the route, and coincides with the Abu Dhabi-based carrier’s 10th anniversary of flying to the Irish capital.

The extra capacity will provide a boost to tourism in Ireland, with visitors from around the world benefitting from a greater choice of flights for a short or long break in a country known for its warmth and hospitality. More frequencies will also double cargo capacity each week to facilitate greater movement of international freight to and from Dublin.

Priyanka Chopra is 'super active and agile' because of her career

Priyanka Chopra has to be "super active and agile" because of her acting career, and although she tries to eat well she does indulge in fast food.

The 34-year-old actress has admitted she has to "eat healthily" and exercise because she does her own stunts in her movies, although the star believes you need to find a balance and shouldn't "kill yourself" by undertaking gruelling workouts all the time. Speaking to Women's Health magazine about her fitness regime, the brunette beauty said: "My favourite ways of staying in shape is staying active. I think that's most important. You don't have to kill yourself at the gym, you don't have to starve yourself. You just have to eat healthy, eat right. Life is just really fast-paced. To be able to find ways of being healthy within that is a smart way to do it.

"Life is just really fast-paced and you don't have to kill yourself in the gym.

"I have to stay super active and agile because I do my own stunts. I do all my fights myself. I trust my body and my instincts.

"I generally inherently stay fit."

Although the 'Quantico' star believes you need to find a happy medium between health and fitness, she doesn't, and has admitted she doesn't listen to her body when it's crying out for a rest when she is ill.

She explained: "People always say you should listen to your body, but I don't listen to my body. My body listens to me. I can't afford to be sick or low on energy. It's mind over matter: I'm going to have a good day, and not in that fake 'Happy girls are the best girls!' way."

However, Priyanka has revealed she doesn't "starve" herself and will often indulge in fast food because she doesn't want to be "super skinny".

She said: "You don't have to starve yourself. I love having my pizzas and burgers and buffalo wings, on the side, for sure. But I like staying fit as well.

"I want to be curvaceous but not super-skinny but at the same time I want to be lean. So I try and eat healthy whenever I can."

Investments (GII) announced that they have signed a new exclusive agreement to develop and invest in a state-of- the art parking management system for Dubai Parks and Resorts, the region’s largest integrated theme park destination, set to open on 31 October this year.

More than 10,000 parking spaces will be developed by GII across two parking facilities at the theme park destination.

The parking facilities will include additional services including VIP and valet parking services, to further enhance the overall visitor experience.  In addition, one of the parking areas will be serviced by a tram system that transports guests to Riverland Dubai, the gateway to the destination.

The 5 year profit-share agreement will generate revenue through parking tariffs and other related services. Parking fees will range from Dh50-80 for a full day of parking and Dh120-150 for VIP and valet parking services.

Mohammed Alhassan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GII (GCC), commented on this partnership saying: “This collaboration with DXB Entertainments is a remarkable opportunity for our investors to be part of the region’s largest multi-themed entertainment destination, and contribute to the city’s Tourism Vision 2020.”

Pankaj Gupta, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GII (UAE) added: “GII is aligned with Dubai’s long-term tourism strategy, and we are delighted to be part of this iconic development.

This collaboration makes perfect strategic and business sense.”

Sandesh Pandhare, Chief Financial & Investment Officer at DXB Entertainments PJSC, the owner of Dubai Parks and Resorts said: “Convenient parking is an essential part of the visitor experience at Dubai Parks and Resorts. The parking facilities that will be developed under this agreement will help ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for our guests as well as generate long-term shareholder value.”

NY surgeons separate 13-month-old boys conjoined at head

Surgeons at a New York City hospital on Friday separated a pair of 13-month-old boys who were congenitally joined at the head, completing a rare operation that carried a risk of death and severe brain damage, their mother said.

Jadon and Anias McDonald of Coal City, Illinois, underwent 16 hours of surgery at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx before the surgical team, led by Dr. James Goodrich, fully detached their skull and brain tissue, Nicole McDonald wrote on Facebook.

While the twins survived the surgery, the outlook for their health is unclear. "We are standing on the brink of a vast unknown," McDonald wrote.

"The next few months will be critical in terms of recovery and we will not know for sure how Anias and Jadon are recovering for many weeks."

High-tech modeling was used to help the surgeons separate the brothers, but the vasculature involved in the procedure was more complex than the images showed, McDonald said.

During the operation, surgeons found a five-by-seven centimeter area of brain tissue with no clear line of dissection.

"Dr Goodrich had to make the call and the final cut based on his instinct," McDonald said.

Anias, who remained in surgery longer than Jadon, appeared to suffer more than his brother by the separation of the brain tissue.

The boy, whose heart rate and blood pressure dropped during the operation, is being monitored for brain swelling and stroke, McDonald said. He is expected to suffer some type of paralysis during his recovery.

Jadon "hardly batted an eye through the whole procedure in terms of maintaining his vitals," McDonald said.

The twins, who also underwent skull reconstruction on Friday, will be intubated for about a week while their brains and vital signs are monitored.

About one in 200,000 births produce conjoined twins, with about half arriving stillborn and about a third surviving a single day, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Success rates in surgical separation are similarly dismal and depend on the point of connection.

For instance, the medical center says, 68 percent of twins joined at the base of the spine have been successfully separated while there have been no known separation survivors of twins connected at the heart. "We just took a huge leap of faith," McDonald said.

"I'm still frozen in space and time ... I'll be hanging out there until I see those smiles again."

Police in the western German city of Duisburg say they're investigating the parents of a 40-day-old girl on allegations they were trying to sell their infant daughter on eBay.

Duisburg police said Thursday that the baby was listed on the internet auction site on Tuesday for a price of 5,000 euros ($5,500). In a raid of the parents' apartment on Wednesday evening they were able to seize evidence suggesting the posting was made from their internet connection.

Authorities say other members of the family also had access to the connection, however.

The parents, described by police only as "refugees," have been taken in for questioning on suspicion of human trafficking.

The youths at the age of 16 eligible for granting driving licenses said Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zaffin, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council (FTC) Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police FOR Operations reported Emarat Al Youm newspaper.

He added that the youths at the age of 16 years more mature now than 10 years ago, and can drive a vehicle in an appropriate manner, and there is no justification for not granting them the license.

He said on the sidelines of the meeting of the FTC the day before yesterday, where he pointed out that he called earlier to give youths at age 17, a driving license.

He added that but even at the age of 16 they deserve giving them driving licenses.

He asserted that there are important social dimensions to modify license age.

he added that families resorted to assign foreign drivers while there are   youths in the family their ages 16 or 17 years old, but they couldn’t  drive families cars because they don’t have driving license despite  they will be more secure for his family.

He stressed that driving a motorcycle is more dangerous than driving a car, because they do not contain adequate safety factors, though licensed to youth at the age of 17 years.

Maj. Gen. Al Zaffin expressed confidence in this age group, especially as the majority of traffic accidents committed by persons aged 24 to 35 years, while less in more recent age.

It is worth mentioning that Al Zaffin was previously proposed to reduce the driving license age from 18 to 17, according to strict requirements, including the existence of a person with young driver while driving, to be conditional and the license will be temporary with certain obligations.

The FTC had discussed the need to add requirements for granting driving licenses, requiring driver's knowledge of security and safety procedures for dealing with car fires.

At least 27 people were killed and 50 others were wounded early Monday after a head-on collision between two passenger buses in central Pakistan, officials said.

The two buses, carrying around 100 passengers, collided in the town of Khanpur, some 800 kilometres (497 miles) south of the capital Islamabad.

"At least 27 people have been killed in the accident and 50 others were wounded," local government official Zafar Iqbal told AFP.

Rescue workers were attempting to pull people out of the wreckage, with fears that the death toll could rise, Iqbal said.

Local police chief Mehar Arsal said the buses slammed into trees after colliding with each other.

Pakistan has one of the world's worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.

Blac Chyna takes a paternity test to 'shut down' rumours Rob Kardashian isn't the father

Blac Chyna has taken a paternity test to prove Rob Kardashian is the father of their child because she wants to "shut down" rumours claiming her baby is another mans.

The 28-year-old model, who is expecting her first child with the 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star and has four-year-old son King Cairo with her ex-boyfriend Tyga, has revealed on her show 'Rob and Chyna' she took the test to ensure Rob was the father of her child and to "shut down rumours" Blac is pregnant with another man's baby.

Speaking on the E! show, which was aired on Sunday, she said: "This might sound f***ed up but a part of me wants to take a paternity test.

"I know it's Rob's child, I've only been with Rob since we started dating. It's just to shut down rumors on the internet saying that it might be two other people."

Although the test has confirmed the 29-year-old television personality is the biological parent, Blac still doubts whether she wants to remain in a relationship with him.

When asked by her friend Paige about her relationship, Blac explained: "Honestly Paige like I've done everything that you possibly could do. I offered to go to therapy with him, he said he doesn't want to do that. I don't even know if I want to stay with Rob.

"I don't know if I want to do this no more with him. This pregnancy ... I thought it would be different. I really literally would have to change everything about myself or he's going to have to change, and I feel like at this rate, Rob ain't changing and I don't have time."

And Rob's sister Kim Kardashian West has urged Rob to change his ways so he doesn't become a "deadbeat dad and the biggest loser".

She explained: "When the baby comes, you're going to have a responsibility that you can't deny, like there's nothing you can do, unless you want to be a deadbeat dad and the biggest loser on the planet.

"I pray to God that the second this baby comes that you're happy."

However Rob is adamant the newborn will reunite him and Blac.

He said: "Of course, I'm going to be happy if she's happy, I'm happy. I think the baby's going to bring us together in a really good way."
