The first so-called genuine pictures of an iPhone 6 has emerged. A Chinese website has posted three images of a possible iPhone 6 device, still inside a production facility in Foxconn.
Although the pictures do not reveal much about the size of the new device, it definitely looks bigger than the current version of the iPhone 5S.
There have been rumours that Apple could be working towards releasing two versions of the phone this year - a 4.7 inch device and a larger phablet-sized device.
The past few months have seen various new leaks and concepts of what the iPhone 6 could look like floating around the web. French blog Nowhereelse has listed most of them. The latest renders show two new redesigned models that look slimmer and changes made to the volume controls.
Some of the earlier rumours have suggested that Apple could introduce the new iPhone with a much-advanced display through the use of quantum dots and introduce sapphire glass display. Sapphire was only used in the finger print scanner in the iPhone 5S.
In terms of hardware the new iPhone could come with A9 processors, a new advanced Broadcom chips that enhances WiFi capability by almost 30 per cent and make it less power hungry, continue to retain an 8Mp camera but significantly improve other features including enhancing the aperture and optimal image stabilisation and a possible introduction of the much-awaited NFC technology. It is believed that Apple could also be working on introducing wireless charging into the new devices.
Meanwhile, according to reports mass, production of Apple’s new phones is expected to start next month for a possible September launch.
According to Reuters, Apple will first launch the 4.7-inch device while 5.5-inch phablet-sized device could be delayed.
Quoting sources from the supply chain, the report said Japan Display will first start work on the production of display screens for Apple and will be followed by, Sharp Corp and LG Display in June.
“Due to difficulties with in-cell production technology for the larger 5.5-inch size, one of the sources said, a decision was made to begin mass production with the 4.7-inch version alone… Production of 5.5-inch screens is expected to start several months later, with the possibility of a shift to a film sensor instead of in-cell technology for that size,” the report said quoting the source.
