Words were exchanged. Balls were targeted at the batsman. Even a bat was hurled at the bowler. The Mumbai Indians versus Royal Challengers Bangalore fixture treated fans and audience to a little more than just cricket. Kieron Pollard and Mitchell Starc's on-field clash dominated the MI's win against RCB on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, MI won and bagged much-needed 2 points, doubling their total tally to 4, and pulling them out of the abyss and to the No. 6 slot.
Cricket, certainly, is a game of glorious uncertainties, and there's nothing better than T20 in general and IPL in particular that highlights that fact.
In the second match on May 5, CSK beat DD to retain their No. 1 rankings in IPL 7 so far.
With the action now moving to India in the seventh edition of the Indian Premier League, after curtains went down on a very successful UAE leg of IPL 7, things are heating up as the tournament enters the business end of things.
Are fortunes changing in India?

*Net Run Rate and IPL 2014 Points Table updated as of 8.45am May 7, 2014
Rajasthan Royals versus Kolkata Knight Riders makes for a very interesting IPL outing. Last week, the two teams treated us to a super-over finish in Abu Dhabi, which RR won by the skin of their teeth as they remained tied on runs even at the end of the super-over.
On Monday, it was a hat-trick, by RR's little-known Pravin Tambe who quickly claimed the Purple Cap, for taking the most wickets this season so far. At one stage, KKR were cruising at 121 for no loss after 14 overs, looking for 50 runs to win off 36 balls with all 10 wickets intact. Whooosh, 9 balls later, it was 123 for 6. KKR again lost the plot - and the match.
Is it (almost) time to write off Kevin Pietersen’s Delhi Daredevils, who finished at the bottom of the table last year and haven't shown any considerable improvement this year? What about Shane Watson-led Rajasthan Royals, who won the first edition of Indian Premier League and never really came close to winning in any of the other five editions?
George Bailey’s Kings XI Punjab have had an amazing tournament so far, but can they sustain the winning momentum and not choke this season when it will matter the most? Can Shikhar Dhawan inspire Sunrisers Hyderabad to finally break free of the ‘newcomers’ tag this year?
Can Shah Rukh Khan’s magic lift Gautam Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders out of the hole they find themselves in? Will Virat Kohli prove his rightful claim to Indian captaincy by winning the trophy for Royal Challengers Bangalore?

One of cricket's greatest shows made its UAE debut on April 16, and residents in the country were drawn to it like moths to a flame, with packed houses welcoming all the 20 matches played on UAE soil.
Had someone told you that after the UAE leg of IPL 7 (14 days and 20 matches), last year's champions (and also the winners of the ICC Champions League) Mumbai Indians would have not scored a single win, would you have believed them? And then on top of it, what do you have to say about the fact that last year's laggards Kings XI Punjab won all their matches in the UAE and ended the first leg on top of the table?
Kings XI Punjab's dream-run continued for a solid 8 matched, winning 5 matches on the trot this year (on top of winning their final 3 outings last year) while Mumbai Indians hadn't done a thing right in the UAE, returning home without a single victory under their belt.
And even as MI have mustered their first win, they will have to play out of their skins from here if they want any real shot at the cup.
The tournament hasn't disappointed at all, with some great upsets, cliffhangers that have seen last-ball finishes, and amazing batting power-play on display. Last year's winners Mumbai Indians are languishing at the bottom of the table, along with the perennially out-of-form Delhi Daredevils, 'newcomers' Sunrisers Hyderabad and out-of-luck Kolkata Knight Riders. While MI have just 2 points against their name despite playing six matches, KKR, SRH and DD have two wins and 4 points against their names.
The surprise package of the tournament so far are Kings XI Punjab, who won all five of their UAE matches. They did lose their first Indian outing, but their dominance with the bat nevertheless has been impressive.
