A Lebanese restaurant manager and his compatriot waitress allegedly sexually and physically assaulted a Pakistani cook, SZ, and made fun of him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.

The victim told the court that he was suffering their insults and assaults for nine months because he was scared of losing the job.

However, the cook used to tell his co-worker and compatriot about the molestation by the waitress and the restaurant manager.

The victim said every day both used to come into the kitchen to insult and assault him and also laughed at torturing him.

“Both the waitress and the manager used to come closer to me to slap me with their hands or kitchen tools. One day they asked me to come to the manager’s office; when I went there, they pulled down my trouser and underwear and pushed me to the floor. The sexually molested me,” the victim told investigators.

When asked why he did not complaint all that period, he answered that he was afraid of losing the job.

He told investigators that he was encouraged after his friend, FK, lodged a complaint with police on his behalf after seeing them beating him up in the kitchen.

His co-worker and compatriot, FK, 22, told investigators that he saw the waitress and the manager beating and making fun of his friend many times.

“I saw the waitress beating him with a fork on different areas of the body. I also saw both of them sexually harassing him. They do that in front of all other workers; they laughed and enjoyed harassing him. He used to get very upset but could not take any action as he was scared of losing the job. One day they tried to pull down the victim’s trousers but he prevented them from doing so. However, he later told me that they did that in the manager’s office,” FK told investigators.

The waitress, SW, 22 and the manager EM, 24, are facing defilement under duress accusation which they denied.

The court will reconvene on August 24.
