The four students who died on Sunday in a road accident on the University Street near Al Warqa’a Roundabout were laid to rest by their grieving family members, reports Emarat Al Youm.
The tragedy was compounded when it came to light that the brother of one of the deceased, a Palestinian-American student, Yazan Nasser, was seriously injured on the head and had sustained a broken leg and was undergoing treatment.
The source said that the three students Yazan Nasser El-Maghtha, Abdullah Salah Al Batrawy And Ezudin Al-Batrawy who died in the accident had been friends ever since their kindergarten days.
The source added that the victims had completed their education from Al-Doha school before graduating in June this year and making their way to the university.
The source said that the bond between Abdullah and Yazan was so strong that the father of one of the boys requested for a joint burial.
The source mentioned that the families were surrounded with grief and many of their friends and relatives had attened the funeral.
A person close to a family of one of the deceased mentioned that the three victims were buried in cemeteries in Sharjah while the fourth friend was buried in Dubai.
The friends lost their lives on Sunday when 10 teenagers were standing on the shoulder of the University street and a a SUV driven by an 18-year-old came hurtling towards them and ran them down.
The incident led to the death of four students and injured five others.
Investigation is on to find out if the vehicle that caused the accident had suffered from any mechanical failure.
Meanwhile, police officials will also question those who were injured in the accident and are admitted in the hospital.
