You might be able to soon pick up a version of the latest iPhone 6 for free in the UAE as both Etisalat and du are working on releasing a detailed instalment payment plan for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Du joined Etisalat in announcing pre-orders for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus starting September 19.
And if you do not have the money to pay for one upfront, here is the good news: both telecom operators could launch their detailed payment plans in advance and ahead of the official launch date on September 27.
Among the various schemes could be an option to get the phone for free with a two-year commitment. Currently, the 16 GB iPhone 5s can be obtained on a du data plan for as low as Dh200 per month. Similarly, the Etisalat plan for an iPhone 5s starts at Dh249.
While the 16GB iPhone 5s currently starts at Dh2,199, the 16GB iPhone 6 is priced at Dh2,599. The iPhone 6 Plus starts at Dh2,999.
So expect a Dh40 to Dh100 difference in the payment plans as well.
When asked if the iPhone 6 plans would be similar, a du official only said, “It would be very competitive.”
Officially du sent out statements yesterday confirming that the pre-orders would start on September 19, but one source confirmed to Emirates 24|7 that they are already working on a monthly instalment plan. “It will be competitive and you will get to know it soon,” the source said.
Etisalat has already started taking registrations of the new phone on its website and could also be expected to come out with their own payment plan.
