Samsung has interesting ways to catch up, compete and take on Apple. Just as Apple started rolling out its new iPhone in retail stores and to pre-ordered customers on Friday, Samsung also started pre-orders for its Galaxy Note 4 on September 19.
Samsung announced the new Note 4 and the Note Edge during the recent IFA in Berlin. While no dates have been announced for the more exciting Note Edge - which features a curved screen on the edge to separately display notifications, the Note 4 will start retailing in the US, UK and China starting October 17.
In a press release, the South Korean giant announced the preorders and did not waste the opportunity to not take on rival Apple.
“Samsung created the large screen smartphone category with the Galaxy Note and are on our fourth generation, a category others are just entering,” said Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America and Samsung Electronics North America Headquarters.
Earlier, in a very clear reference to Apple, Samsung released this video on its Samsung Mobile USA YouTube channel stating that “the Next Big Thing is about more than just size.”
Samsung is now claiming that its Note 4 is more powerful compared to the iPhone 6 Plus, especially in its display, advanced photo technology for front and rear camera, battery improvements, and S Pen enhancements.
Meanwhile, customers in the US can also trade in their old working smartphones including an iPhone for a credit of $200 against the purchase of the new Galaxy Note 4.
