Both etisalat and du have announced their data packages for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that officially went on sale just past midnight.
And if you were expecting one for free, here are the deals.
Etisalat offers almost all models without any down payment for a monthly commitment for 24 months and at rentals starting at Dh200. With du on the other hand you only get to choose the 16GB model without down payment and under a specific plan.
Etisalat`s postpaid plans with free 16 GB iPhone 6 device start at Dh200 for 1GB data and 50 flexi minutes and a 24-month contract while an iPhone 6 Plus gives you the same benefits for a monthly contract of Dh225.
Add another 200 to the respective plans and you get a chance to increase your data and talk time. For a monthly commitment of Dh400 for 18 months, you get a free iPhone 6, 10 GB monthly data and 300 flexi minutes. With flexi minutes you can either use them against local or international calls. In case you don’t want flexi minutes you can also opt for 1000 local calls.
By paying an additional Dh25 every month you can upgrade your device to a 64 GB and increasing the monthly commitment by Dh 50 will get you a 128 GB device on all the above mentioned plans.
As part of the Du smartphone privilege plan, it is only the iPhone 6 that comes without any upfront payment, provided you sign a 2-year contract and a monthly commitment of Dh200.
For the same plan and for a 64GB iPhone 6 you pay a down payment of Dh400 and Dh850 for a 128GB iPhone 6.
In case of iPhone 6 Plus, and with a similar plan, even the 16GB model has a payment and is set at Dh400.
For a 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus the down payment is Dh850 and Dh1,250 for a 128 GB model. Both telecom operators have listed other plans with varied payment options and monthly commitments and benefits.
With du, however, only the iPhone 6 is in stock and there is a waiting period for the iPhone 6 Plus delivery. The etisalat website does not mention about non-availability of stock.
There have been concerns about the lack of supply of the large-screened iPhone forcing many to even queue up in front of retail outlets at last night`s midnight launch.
There were long queues in front of stores in Dubai Mall, as fans started lining up an hour in advance.
An instagram user even posted a video of the line in front of the iStyle store at the Dubai Mall.
Jacky`s too took to social networking to announce their sale and later post an image of the first person to buy the device from its store.
The official arrival of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are expected to drive smartphone sales during the Gitex Shopper starting today and also force retailers to offer attractive discounts on older models.
