The new edition of the iPhone will be announced on September 10 called the iPhone5S will come with a 4” display, 13 megapixel camera, a new finger print sensor, an A7 processor and an increased battery life...
This is what the rumour mill expects it to be when Apple finally announces the new device. Months of speculations and constant leaks have, to a large
extent, resulted in partially eliminating the surprise out of new product announcements by Apple.
Yet because we are dealing with Apple nothing can be ruled out. “You cannot be sure about any specs until they are officially announced,” is how one tech expert noted when asked to take his call on the list of forthcoming features.
What’s in a name?
Starting with the name, it is still not clear what Apple plans to call the new device, iPhone 5S or iPhone6. Apple started the S series with the
iPhone4S when it introduced Siri. However, we are not sure if Apple will continue with the pattern and introduce an iPhone5S or call the new phone
iPhone6.
Incidentally, the budget version of the new iPhone is expected to be called 5C and will come with a plastic shell.
Display
There has been immense pressure on Apple to increase the screen size of its next flagship model. While Android and Windows counterparts are constantly upgrading products with a five+plus inch screens, Apple has continued to limit its screen size to 4 inches.
Although some reports suggest that the new model will have a 5” screen size, several leaks have pointed out that Apple could continue with a 4” display. The new phone will have a similar look and feel of the iPhone5.
The French tech blog in its latest leak has revlead some design specifications of the new iPhone that looks almost the same as the iPhone 5
except for minor changes for a possible fingerprint scanner and an improvised flash.
Finger Print Sensor
Last year Apple acquired AuthenTec a Florida-based firm specialising in mobile and network security for $356million. Ever since then it was predicted
that Apple would soon introduce finger print sensors into its new device and latest leaks suggest that Apple plans to use scratch-proof sapphire crystal for the iPhone 5S’s home button that will also be capable as acting as finger
print sensors.
Apple currently uses sapphire crystal on its latest device to safeguard the rear camera.
Further evidence to it was found in the iOS 7 beta had evidence of codes that indicated a finger print security feature.
iOS7
The iPhone 5S will be the first device to incorporate the new iOS7. Apple has actually just revamped its iCloud service with a new iOS7 look.
Logging on to the site (beta.iCloud.com<http://beta.iCloud.com>), one can find the preview of what Apple could release soon on its new device.
Apple has been releasing beta versions of the new OS on a regular basis for developers to test. The new UI introduces a totally new colour palette to not just the home screen but to all its apps and the entire system.
Among the newly added elements are apps that enable multiple pages, rounded numbers and a much more elegant typography apart from various other design changes.
Camera
Rumours and reports have ranged between an 8MP to a 13 Mp camera in Apple’s new forthcoming device.
Various leaks have also pointed towards a new slow motion camera thanks to a new feature called ‘Mogul’ that enables video recording at 120 frames per second.
Here is an example of a video shot at 120 frames per second uploaded by a Vimeo user [http://vimeo.com/1340684]
The new OS also gives away details to the introduction of various bew filters and features that enables management and sharing of images much more friendly.
Apple’s new phone and its features will determine how the company moves forward taking its momentum ahead and traies to salvage the slippery position it recently yielded to Samsung.
