A seven-year old Indian girl has been orphaned and left with no one to look after her after her entire family died in a road accident on the Dibba-Masafi road late last month, according to a report in the ‘Al Khaleej’ Arabic newspaper.
The child’s mother died on the spot while her father passed away some days after the accident. Her younger baby sister, though clinically dead according to doctors, is in intensive care in hospital.
The unfortunate girl, identified as Samreen, was the only survivor of the accident. She woke up from coma, resulting from a hit on the head, to find herself all alone in this world.
Samreen has no relatives in the UAE and is currently being looked after by Fabish, a colleague of her father, though he is a person of modest means with his own family to look after.
‘Al Khaleej’ representatives visited Samreen at the home of Fabish and found the girl in good physical health though her psychological condition was not good.
Fabish said the girl often cries and wants to see her parents and younger sister. She told ‘Al Khaleej’ representatives that her family was going to Dibba Al Fujairah for the weekend when a long vehicle hit their car. She said that their car flipped over many times. She remembers ambulances taking her and family to hospital.
Fabish said Samreen sometimes utters incomprehensible words in her sleep and wakes up in the middle of night crying loudly.
Fabish is hoping that members of the public will help to send the girl to her grandparents in India.
