A 23-year-old woman has been arrested by police after being accused of sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy in Sri Lanka, the ‘Mirror’ newspaper reported.
The grandmother of the boy had lodged a complaint with the police at Ambalantota in the south of the country that the mother of a child had used her grandson for sex.
Police have sent the accused woman for medical examination after her arrest while the boy has been sent to the Hambantota hospital for treatment as his male organ has been badly wounded.
The boy, who lives near the accused’s house, used to stay overnight at the woman’s house as her husband is employed as a night shift security officer.
When the boy returned home in the morning after spending the night at the woman’s house on August 27, his grandmother observed that he was in discomfort and questioned him after which both went to the police station to lodge a complaint against the woman.
Two children drown in quagmire
A nine-year-old boy and his seven-year-old sister drowned in a quagmire in Sri Lanka, the ‘Daily Mirror’ reported.
The accident happened in Wawanawatta in Piliyandala, the newspaper said.
The two, who were students of Sri Sudarsana School in Makandana in grades 4 and 2 respectively, have been identified as Kavindu Kashmeera and Kavini Nivarthana.
While returning home after a tuition class, they had gone to play on the new Kesbewa–Bokundara road which is under construction, where the accident happened, police said.
The bodies are kept at the Piliyandala Hospital mortuary.
