The job market in the UAE performed considerably well last year, but there are certain sectors in the country that outshone others and generated more jobs than the rest.
According to a new report by classifieds website Dubizzle.com, the sector that posted the highest job vacancies in 2014 was sales, followed by the medical industry, making the two the highest job generating sectors last year.
Real estate and food & beverages (F&B) also saw an uptick in hiring levels. As per Dubizzle.com data, these sectors had the highest increase in job creation when comparing Q4 2014 to the Q4 2013.
Secretarial jobs were also in demand as per the website, and received more than 276,000 applications in the final three months of 2014 on this one website alone.
Going forward, the next few months also look promising. A recent hiring survey by NaukriGulf, a jobs portal, revealed that 74 per cent of recruiters in the UAE and the Middle East expect new jobs to be added in the next six months of 2015.
In its hiring outlook, the company reveals that the environment is conducive to new jobs being created and it reflects a 13 per cent growth when compared to 2014.
And the sectors that are expected to generate the most jobs are oil & gas, construction & engineering, and hospitality, according to the survey.
On the other hand, the latest Monster Middle East Employment Index reveals that hospitality, healthcare, banking financial services and insurance registered the steepest growth in February 2015 when compared to the same month last year.
Dubizzle.com figures also show that industries that look to benefit the most in terms of job creation from Expo 2020 include aviation, retail, transportation, construction and sales.
According to published figures, more than 275,000 jobs are expected to be created to service the Expo 2020 up until its launch.
