Could wearing a seatbelt have saved the 21-year-old Indian wife, who was killed in a road accident in Dubai on Friday.

The fact that her husband driving the vehicle jumped a red signal, apart, one of the survivors of the accident seems to believe if she had her seatbelt on she would have survived.

The family involved in the crash is from Oman and were visiting Dubai for shopping.

Mubeena, 21, was killed near the Umm Ramool exit when her husband Naugasine broke a traffic signal.

Their vehicle hit a Land Cruiser.

Mubeena was seated in the front seat of the vehicle, but without seatbelt protection and was carrying her 18-month-old daughter Fatimat Rehna when the incident occurred.

The condition of the baby is said to be stable and doctors at Rashid Hospital have said the girl will be discharged within the next 24 hours.

In the vehicle were two others, Naugasine’s friend Taufid and his brother Nasser.

“The Land Cruiser impacted the vehicle from the left where the driver was seated. Mubeena was seated on the other side,” said Sajeet one of the family friend.

The family came to Dubai in order to purchase some goods for Taufid. “The men usually came to Dubai for making purchases. But this time they planned to stay on for more than more days.

“Naugasine therefore did not want to leave his wife and small baby alone in Muscat. But unfortunately it ended tragically,” Sajeet said.

According to him efforts are being made to repatriate the body and get Naugasine out on bail.
