Latest update: Accident has been reported on Maliha Road, with a gold-coloured sedan flipped over near the Enoc petrol pump.
Umar told Emirates 24|7: “It was at the exit, from Ring Road to Maliha Road. At about 8:39am.”
Several accidents have been reported across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, adding to the traffic conditions that has seen parts of the country face gridlock in face of the wet weather conditions.
Dubai Police tweet an accident at 9am, saying: “An accident has been reported on Al Rabat Road, opposite Festival City towards Nad Al Hammar. Please be extra cautious.”
Earlier, an accident was also reported by Dubai Police on Sheikh Zayed Road from Al Safa bridge, heading towards Jebel Ali; reports coming in say the accident has been cleared, but the traffic is still slow moving.
Meanwhile, Twitter user Saeed has messaged that Abu Dhabi traffic heading into Dubai is slow due to an accident after Ghantoot station.
Community gridlock
Commuter Vemuri Srinivas tweeted to Emirates 24|7 reporting of a gridlock at Al Maktoum Bridge, heading into Dubai, saying: “There’s a huge trail on Al Maktoum bridge from Deira to Sheikh Zayed Road.”
The gridlock was reported in at 9.30am and is still ongoing.
Reports are also coming in that access from Al Barsha is that Hessa Street to Al Khail Road and Sheikh Zayed Road is in complete gridlock. Commuters are advising people to take alternatives.
Residents of Discovery Gardens be prepared for another jam this morning, with reports coming on of slow moving with rain water blocking parts of the exit.
Also with the new Roads and Transport Authority barriers in place from last week, the illegal access to Sheikh Zayed Road from the Gardens community has been blocked.
Other emirates facing jams
The rain has also come down hard on commuters from Sharjah, heading into Dubai, with grim reports of gridlock on Emirates Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, National Paints junctions near Maliha Road, Sharjah Ring Road and the highway into Dubai.
In the capital, Abu Dhabi Police tweeted of more jams, saying: “Traffic congestion and delays on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Rd under Seih Shuaib Bridge outbound Abu Dhabi.”
The update was given at 9.15am and is still ongoing.
Motorists and residents on Dubai have been put on wet roads alert after Dubai Police tweeted: “It is raining on some areas of Dubai. Please slow down, drive carefully and leave enough space between vehicles.”
Earlier, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) had forecast that the weather will be partly cloudy with pleasant temperatures during the day and cold weather at night.
The forecast had included the probability of some rain, especially.

"Wind will be moderate to fresh especially northwards and over the sea, causing blowing dust/sand over internal land areas with poor visibility at times. Sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea," the forecast stated.
While on Monday, the weather will be partly cloudy in general, with increase of cloud amount over the northern and the eastern areas, and rain may fall especially during morning times. The temperature will have a slight decrease over some areas. The wind will be moderate to fresh over the sea and the sea will be rough to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
It added that the wind will decrease during night and Tuesday early morning. The relative humidity will increase over some internal areas with a Probability of fog.
The NCMS advises seafarers to take precautionary measures in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea during the period mentioned above. The drivers should take care while driving during rain.
