In a shocking case that has come to light, a 30-year-old has been accused of raping a pre-teen boy who also happens to be her son's friend.

The mother who hails from Missouri in the US, allegedly raped the 12-year-old boy while her own son was in her basement at home, reveals Huffington Post.

According to documents submitted in the court, the boy told police that he and the woman engaged in intercourse several time at her home over the course of nine months.

Police also found several text messages on bothe their phones in which they had proclaimed their love for each other. One of the messages from the woman also instructed the boy to delete all messages from her.

It is unclear how the murky incident came to light.

Starting this weekend, the open air cinema will happen every fortnight, until the end of February. While movies will start at 8pm, entertainment will be available from 5pm, so it provides for the right timeframe to make it a night out.

During these months the evenings might get a little chilly, so visitors are advised to bring their blankets, or come dressed in plenty of warm clothes. Drinks and snacks will be available in the park, as if visiting a real cinema.

Bollywood stars just need to attend few events and parties together to be labeled as couples by the paparazzi.

That's what happened with Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra.

The duo has been painting the town red at various events with joint appearances. Rumours of their alleged relationship started gaining momentum after they arrived in the same car at actor Ranbir Kapoor's Christmas bash and apparently remained inseparable for the entire night.

Their undisclosed New Year vacation fanned the link-up rumours further. Both were caught at the airport when they returned from their getaway.

Is there trouble between Arbaaz, Malaika?

Recently, co-producers and Bollywood couple Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan launched the music of their movie 'Dolly Ki Doli'.

The event was a huge success but the paparazzi present didn't miss the chemistry or rather the absence of it between the husband and wife.

While Malaika who was gifting movie merchandise to the crowd was asked by a lens-man to pose. Malaika then asked Arbaaz almost twice to pose which he ignored.

While leaving the venue the couple stood for a customary photo. Even here Arbaaz made no attempt to strike a 'loving husband pose.'

Man claims Gauhar paid him to slap her

After the hullabaloo of ‘Bigg Boss 7’ winner Gauahar Khan slapping fiasco, the accused Mohd Akil Malik claims that the actress had paid him to do so, Indian express reported.

While speaking to Zee news, Malik stated that he was a junior artist seeking a big break in the industry and giving him hopes of his gala launch was none other than Gauahar Khan herself, but ofcourse with conditions applied.

Malik claims that the dame had promised to get him a role in Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ on condition that he slapped her on the sets of the music reality show ‘India’s Rawstar’. She had also promised that she wouldn’t press any charges against him as this was supposed to be a publicity stunt.

He claims that he did not know Gauahar Khan until November 28 when he waited for her to finish her shoot to inform her that he was a big fan of hers and requested her to help him in his pursuit. However, the actor stated that he had to return the favour.

Malik added, on November 30, the two met in Gauahar’s car where the plans were made. He said, “She told me that I will have to slap her on stage. Gauahar also promised me that she would go and tell the police that she has pardoned me and they would not be able to take any further action against my act. In return, she promised to get me a role in ‘Dabangg 3′. Her driver too was a witness to this entire conversation.”

The reason Malik slapped Gauahar was simply because she donned a skimpy attire which “damages the mind of the youth”, he further added “I grew greedy to get a role in films. Everyone today wants to work in films. Hence I did it.”

Tha actress has however denied such accusations and has asked her lawyer to get back to culprit.

It may not be surprising to know that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is dating, but this time it comes right from the horse’s mouth.

Katrina hides; Ranbir and Ash celebrate

Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have been the talk to of the town, the couple recently hosted a terrace party after moving in together.

Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar were seen together in the picture of the gathering posted on twitter.

While the stars were all enthusiastic about the event, Katrina seemed to be shying away from the camera. Although, it’s evident that Ranbir and Katrina are in a relationship, the couple has never made it public.

The couple was celebrating the grand opening of  ‘PK’ where Ranbir is seen in a cameo at the end of the  movie.

Shah Rukh no to Bigg Boss

Sunny Leone scared of co-star?

Actor Sunny Leone apparently refused to shoot after her co-actor Mohit Ahlawat created a ruckus on the sets.

Salman Khan's apology to Katrina Kaif

Salman Khan created quite a stir when he addressed his ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif as 'Kapoor' at the wedding party of his sister Arpita Khan.

A video clip that showed the entire eppisode went viral on social networking sites.

Priyanka's property used to run brothel

Priyanka Chopra, who had rented out a 3000 sqft property to a spa in Mumbai suburb, ran into trouble over a sex racket.

To the actress' horror, the Mumbai Police recently busted a sex racket being run under the garb of a spa on a floor of a building owned by her.

According to a report in Mid-Day, three women were rescued and manager was arrested in the on November 7 raid while the spa owner is on the run.

The women have been sent to a rehab centre.

The actress has now sent a notice to the spa owner. According to a website, the actress, in addition to sending the notice has cancelled the lease for the entire floor of the building.

Karan to bring Ranbir, Aishwarya together?

A Tennessee man who told police he ate part of his victim's body has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty in the woman's death.

Coffee Circuit Judge Craig Johnson sentenced 37-year-old Gregory Scott Hale of Summitville on Thursday. The Tullahoma News said Hale pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the June 8 death of 36-year-old Lisa Marie Hyder.

Prosecutors say Hale picked Hyder up at a liquor store and took her to his residence, killing her after sex. They say he told investigators that he was fulfilling an obsession.

Louvre Abu Dhabi and Marina 101 in Dubai have been listed among the 13 buildings worldwide with Al Noor Tower in Casablanca, developed by Dubai-based Middle East Development, also finding place in the list.

Tourism Development & Investment Company, the master developer of major tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, has completed the full installation of the Louvre Abu Dhabi dome structure, which consists of 85 super-sized steel elements and weighs 7,000 tonnes.

Louvre Abu Dhabi will encompass 9,200 square metres of art galleries. Its 6,681-square-metre “Permanent Gallery” will house the museum's permanent collection taking the visitor through a journey from the most ancient to contemporary through art works from different civilisations. The “Temporary Gallery” will be a dedicated space of 2,364 square metres presenting exhibitions of international standards.

According to CNN, the developer has invested $600 million to build architect Jean Nouvel’s creation, a design apparently inspired by Arabic architecture’s characteristic “Cupola” domes.

Opening in December, the gallery will host masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Claude Monet and Henri Matisse – the first time many will be shown in the Middle East.

In December, CNN.com named Abu Dhabi among its top 10 destinations for 2015. The emirate is ranked alongside other desirable locations including Milan, the Bahamian Coast and Downtown Los Angeles.

Marina 101

Marina 101 in Dubai Marina will reach 426 meters when finished making it the second tallest tower in Dubai after 828-meter Burj Khalifa.

The first 33 floors of the skyscraper will comprise a 300-room Hard Rock hotel, with residential apartments above. Sheffield Holding Limited, the developer, claims it will contain some of the most expensive penthouses in Dubai.

The tower was launched in June 2006 and covers a total built up area of 1.68 million square feet. There are nearly 480 furnished apartments with a restaurant on the 101th floor. It is now scheduled for completion in June 2015.

Dubai Marina is home to 14 out of the 20 current tallest buildings in the emirate, according to the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habit (CTBUH), with Marina 101 as the 34th tallest tower in the world.

Al Noor Tower

The title for Africa's tallest building hasn’t changed hands with Johannesburg's 232-meter tall Carlton Centre holding the title since 1973. This year, Middle East Development hopes to beat it by starting work on 540-meter Al Noor Tower.

432 Park Avenue

Towering 50 meters above the Empire State Building, the tallest residential tower in the western hemisphere will open its doors this year. Already topped out, the 426-meter 432 Park Avenue will feature 104 apartments with residences starting at $17 million and full floor penthouses reaching $82 million.

Vietnam Pavilion, Milan

Created by bamboo architect Vo Trong Nghia, Vietnam Pavilion, Milan will focuses on sustainability in 2015 World Expo in Milan. A 25 bamboo structures and a ring of water will surround the two-storey exhibition space at the heart of the pavilion.

A new immigration opportunity to Canada has presented itself through the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry programme.

Nova Scotia is a province situated on the east coast of Canada. Like most provinces, it runs its own immigration programme based on its specific labour demand. The new programme is unique in that it offers migrants the chance to settle down in Canada without a job offer at hand.

Programme requirements

A total of 350 applications will be accepted under this year’s progamme, which is available to individuals along with their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children under the age of 19.

Although a job offer is not a requirement, a point-based system applies, where the applicant must have a minimum of 67 points out of 100 to be eligible for application.

Points are awarded for several qualifications such as education, language ability, work experience and age. Points for adaptability are available if a candidate has arranged employment in a skilled opportunity occupation and/or has previously studied in Nova Scotia.

An occupation list dictates the labour categories available for application, and the applicant should have at least one year of work experience in one of the 29 categories on the list. The list includes occupations in the engineering, science, healthcare, finance and computing industries and is subject to change at any time.

Further, language ability in English or French is subjective to a minimum score in a test recognised by the government of Canada — either IELTS or CELPIP for English or TEF for French. The applicant must attain at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) seven in one of these tests.

Application procedure

With the introduction of the Express System for immigration to Canada, there are two ways to apply for a provincial programme. As Nova Scotia has opted to integrate with the new system, it can either select its nominees through the Express Entry Pool, or through its own application procedure.

When applying through the Express System, an Express Entry profile will have to be created, where the desired destination should be mentioned. Based on this information, the province will be able to browse and select its preferred candidates.

When the applicant opts to apply directly through the province’s programme, a file should be submitted to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) first. With a provincial nomination, the file can then be submitted to the Express Entry pool. The nomination is likely to trigger an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

Nova Scotia has been keen on attracting new immigrants with a variety of programmes over the years. Currently, it is offering three programmes; the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry programme, the Skilled worker programme, and the Family Business Worker programme.

Nova Scotia is predicted to have the third-highest level of economic growth of all Canadian provinces in 2015.

Saudi Arabia has intensified efforts to curb widespread endogamy which is blamed for a sharp rise in genetic disease in the Gulf Kingdom, according to experts.

A government-sponsored programme dubbed “healthy marriage” reports substantial progress in a campaign to discourage relatives from marrying each other despite prevailing social traditions which encourage such marriages.

The programme says it has tested around 3.25 million Saudis seeking to marry relatives since it was founded 11 years ago and that it succeeded in persuading at least 60 per cent of them not to go ahead with the marriage.

“In the beginning, the response was below eight per cent…we are now encouraged to reach a response rate of 100 per cent,” said Dr Ayman Al Suleiman, a genetic researcher and consultant at King Faisal Hospital in the capital Riyadh.

“The problem is that in Saudi Arabia, we have genetic diseases which no other country has…the Kingdom has one of the highest genetic disease rates in the world, estimated at one per 1,000…this compares with one per 4,000 in the United States and one per 8,000 in Japan…this means the ratio of genetic diseases in Saudi Arabia is almost eight times that of Japan,” he told Saudi TV.

Suleiman said he conducted a survey in 2004 showing endogamy in Saudi Arabia was around 53 per cent, adding that it has now increased to 67 per cent.

“There should be intensified efforts to curb marriages within relatives…in this respect, I suggest compulsory pre-marriage medical tests.”

A worried husband tells his disturbed wife, “All the problem exists in your head… And you’ve got nothing in there!” That line pretty much sums up director Bhushan Patel’s take on horror – horribly shallow, and unintentionally hilarious.

The audience were left laughing at the sheer stupidity of how the tale, and the lack of any real acting talent. In fact, had director Sajid Khan borrowed a few ideas, he and Bipasha Basu could’ve gained more laughs than they managed to in ‘Humshakals’.

Instead of scaring his audience, Patel tickles us. Every shriek and scream were reduced to laughter so loud that it even muted the deafening background score.

Patel would’ve thought that he cracked it when he borrowed the storyline from the 2007 Thai blockbuster of the same title, but the absurd addition of seduction into his plot just ruined the creepy quotient. He compensates every eerie scene with an erotic song or embrace or kiss.

There’s no manipulation of tension, instead the background score throws enough clues to make a normal person go deaf, but not afraid. He overuses some tricks to create fear, leaving us prepped even before he reveals it. And, he conveniently cuts shorts the days, and emphasises on the night, and the bed, instead.

It appears Bipasha Basu signed up for ‘Alone’ not under peer pressure (to do women-centric roles), but because she had way too many skimpy satin lingerie and lacy shorts to showcase. It’s almost like she’s desperate to slip back into her ‘Jism’ days, but unfortunately it worked years ago.

Debutant Karan Singh Grover seems in sync with his female star,  and looks genuinely uncomfortable with his shirt buttoned up. While his lady is busy flashing her toned legs, he’s fixated on flaunting his ribbed body. Clearly, the casting director was instructed only to hire pretty bodies.

Although our main leads try to scare us often and on, their focus on skin show distracts us (and probably the director even).

Sanjana and Anjana are conjoined twins. One dies after the other decides to get surgically separated for love. Kabir and Anjana are settled in Mumbai after marriage, but are forced to return to her ancestral home in Kerala when her mother suffers from a stroke.

Once home, Anjana is haunted by the spirit of her sister. Her husband takes her to the shrink, who subscribes romance and music to cure the disturbed mind.

It obviously doesn’t work, but they refuse to move out to a hotel, and insist on staying in the haunted bungalow. Things get out of hand, people are thrown up in the air and flung around.

The spirit enters Anjana’s body, but the priest who drives it out by referring to “the Bhootpuran” has no idea what to do after. He exits the scene, and leaves Mr. biceps to protect Miss. Long legs from evil. What ensues is 145 minutes of chaos.

Having not watched the Thai film, we are unable to judge whether Patel faltered on the selection or the execution. Either way, we wouldn’t recommend it.

Kris Jenner is feeling outraged after InTouch magazine printed edited photos of Bruce Jenner as a woman, suggesting he is ready to tell the world he wants to live as a female.

InTouch magazine's front cover shows an edited picture of the former Olympian wearing lipstick, blusher, and a silk scarf, and features several other images of the 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star's ex-husband under the headline "Bruce's story: My life as a woman," much to her disgust.

The 59-year-old television personality is reportedly furious about the magazine's content, and has told friends it is a "mean" thing for them to do.

A source close to her said: "It's just mean to do whether or not it's true."

Speculation over the 65-year-old star's gender preference has been rife for several years, but his friends claim he doesn't care about what is written about him in the press.

They told gossip website TMZ: "He doesn't even pay attention to this stuff."

Bruce - who officially divorced Kris last month following 23 years of marriage - has two children, Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 17, with the Kardashian matriarch, who last year said she was surprised so much was written about her former flame because it is almost all untrue.

She said: "Ninety-nine percent of the stuff in the tabloids is made up.

"I think when he gets his nails buffed they put clear nail polish on him. The bottom line is, we [the Kardashians] sell magazines."

Kourtney holding Scott 'hostage'?

However, the United Kingdom was noticeably absent from the site's top three global locations - Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and Times Square in New York City.

Exercising and healthy eating go hand-in-hand, and the desired results of a workout may not be achieved without a healthy meal plan, argues the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

In its weekly Twitter clinic, the DHA announced it will carry out several awareness campaigns at walking tracks throughout the emirate over the next 3 months.

“In 2013, we noticed that although some of our patients were regular with exercise but they were following incorrect practices such as not consuming water during exercise, consuming unnatural protein sources etc, ” said Wafa Ayesh, Director of Clinical Nutrition at the DHA.

“We then realized that it is important to educate people who exercise about correct nutrition especially before and after exercise so that they can see positive results of exercising and be healthy. People need to understand that exercise and healthy eating go hand-in-hand and therefore awareness of both concepts is necessary.”

The DHA has set up booths at Dubai’s various walking tracks and will raise awareness about topics such as nutrition for athletes, natural and unnatural sources of protein, ideal foods to consume before and after exercise, the importance of good carbohydrates, hazards of energy drinks etc.

A healthy pre-exercise snack should contain 50% of the calories you expect to burn during your workout.

The snack should ideally constitute 25 to 35% protein, 50 to 60 % carbs and 15 % fats, pointed the DHA out.

Some examples are: nuts and yogurt or figs and yogurt, cheese and crackers, yogurt smoothies, fruit and yogurt, hummus and vegetables, boiled egg with slice of bread, peanut butter jelly sandwich.

While drinking plenty of water before and during the workout, a healthy snack is recommended after the workout as well. If you burn around 600 calories during the exercise, have a snack that contains at least 300 calories, advises the DHA.

The body is in recovery mode and you need to have a nutrient dense meal, with lean protein and little carbohydrates, such as grilled chicken with vegetables, omelette with avocado, or salmon with sweet potato, suggest the specialists.

At the tracks the DHA will also provide free health screening including BMI, blood sugar and blood pressure screening. Physiotherapists will be present to discuss topics such as exercise and posture, and the correct way of exercising to avoid injuries.

Authorities say a mother in Louisiana will face negligent-homicide charges after her two small children died in a house fire while she was getting her hair styled.

Investigators say an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a woman from Bastrop who allegedly left her 3-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter unattended for hours.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal Deputy Chief Brant Thompson said the 21-year-old mother will be arrested after her release from a Shreveport medical facility where she's on a 72-hour hold by the Morehouse Parish Coroner's Office. Thompson says she was transported there after locking herself inside her vehicle.

Investigators say they are still piecing together findings about the fire that killed the children.

Manny Pacquiao may be closer to a long awaited fight with Floyd Mayweather but the Filipino ring legend is not the favourite to break the unbeaten record of the American if the richest fight in boxing history does happen this year.

That honour could go to another top welterweight contender Amir Khan of Britain, according to 'Arabian Warrior' Eisa Aldah.

"I say Amir is the first person who can beat Floyd. Of all the fighters only Amir can make it difficult for Floyd," said Eisa during a press conference in Dubai on Thursday.

British boxer Khan holidaying in Dubai after giving Mayweather a five-day deadline to accept his challenge for a May 2 fight seated alongside Eisa chuckled.

But UAE's first and only professional boxer was quite serious and even made a surprise announcement.

"I offer Floyd Mayweather my gym worth 20 million if he fights and beats Amir Khan because he cannot beat Amir," said Eisa, founder and CEO of EMD Fitness in Jumeirah which he founded two years ago.

American head coach of the gym Anthony Wilson also endorsed Eisa's belief that Bolton boxer Amir Khan has the repertoire to spoil Mayweather's perfect 47-0 record.

"Amir is a great champion. I've been watching him for a very long time. I'm a Floyd Mayweather fan but Amir has the skill, experience and knowledge to win. I'm looking forward to that fight (Mayweather vs Amir Khan). I know the speed Amir has is out of this world," said Wilson.

Amir 'King' Khan (30-3, 19KOs) feels on top of the world after demolishing American southpaw Devon Alexander in Las Vegas last month.

Already a two-time world champion, Khan demonstrated he certainly has the 'fastest pair of hands' and great boxing acumen to shut out his rival to win a unanimous decision in a lopsided contest.

"I really believe I've earned my shot against the best boxer in the world, and that's Floyd Mayweather," said Khan who targeting a bout against Mayweather or Pacquiao after retaining his WBC Silver welterweight title in Las Vegas.

He is confident of beating Mayweather.

"Floyd Mayweather is the ideal fight for me. I think he is the best pound-for-pound boxer, and it would be a game of chess, but against Mayweather I would be too skillful. I have the skill and movement to beat him," he said after the fight.

"I think I'm getting better with age. I'm better than I was at 26 and now just starting to hit my peak at 28. I worked very hard and put on one of my best performances."

"I believe I have earned my shot against Floyd Mayweather."

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme, he added: "This victory puts me in a great position now to fight the biggest names of boxing - the likes of Mayweather and Pacquiao. That's where I belong."

Khan may have to wait until after May 2 to fight either opponent as Mayweather has mentioned that date for a fight against his former stable mate Pacquiao.

"Stylistically, I think that Mayweather does not want me because I have that style which causes him big problems," he said.

Amir Khan is not only walking the talk but has time on his hands unlike Mayweather, 37, and Pacquiao, 36.

A giant python was found dead while wrapping itself around the entire body of a car in the Palestinian West Bank. Experts believe it could have died of cold.

A YouTube film published in regional newspapers showed the massive body of the snake was stuck around the car, as a large crowd of curious Palestinians watched in surprise.

The Palestinian daily ‘Donia Al Watan’ quoted snake expert Jamal Amwasi as saying he believes the snake died in the sub-zero temperatures during the snowstorm that swept through the Palestinian areas and other parts of the Middle East last week.

A plane carrying top aides of Philippine President Benigno Aquino overshot a runway in stormy weather on Saturday, authorities said, shortly after Pope Francis's plane took off from the same airport.

The plane's nose wedged into the mud at Tacloban airport in the central Philippines but no-one was injured, Francis Tolentino, a senior government official who was at the scene, told DZMM radio.

"I saw it taxiing down the runway, then it overshot," Tolentino told DZMM radio station.

Aquino's executive secretary, Paquito Ochoa, and spokesman, Herminio Coloma, were among those on the chartered plane, according to Tolentino.

They were among a group of senior officials in Tacloban to accompany the pope as he visited survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest storm every recorded on land, which killed 7,350 people in 2013.

The pope was forced to cut short his trip to the area because of intense rains and strong winds from Tropical Storm Mekkhala, which was less than 150 kilometres (less than 100 miles) from Tacloban as the pope gave mass.

The pope's plane took off from Tacloban shortly after 1:00 pm (0500 GMT) and arrived safely back in the capital of Manila.

The plane carrying the presidential aides tried to take off less than 30 minutes after the pope took off, according to an AFP reporter at the airport.
 

Francis flees

Pope Francis was forced Saturday to flee a fierce storm in the Philippines that killed a papal volunteer, cutting short a mercy mission to weeping survivors of a catastrophic super typhoon.

Wearing a thin yellow plastic poncho to protect him from intense rain, Francis delivered an emotional mass to about 200,000 people in the typhoon-ravaged central Philippine city of Tacloban.

However plans to spend the entire day in Tacloban and nearby areas that were devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan 14 months ago were ruined by another storm, forcing him to fly back to Manila at lunchtime.

"So I apologise to you all. I'm sad about this, truly saddened," the 78-year-old pontiff told thousands of people who had gathered at one church shortly before he raced back to the airport.

The pope's plane made the 90-minute flight back to the Philippine capital of Manila safely.

But highlighting the dangers of the storm, a papal volunteer at the morning mass died as steel scaffolding collapsed on her, a church spokesman said.

A plane carrying three of President Benigno Aquino's top aides then overshot the runway on take-off at Tacloban and nosedived into mud, only minutes after Pope Francis's plane flew back to Manila. No-one was badly injured.

Compassion

The trip to Tacloban and surrounding areas was one of the top reasons for the pope making a five-day visit to the Philippines, the Catholic Church's Asian stronghold where he is a highly revered figure.

Haiyan, the most powerful storm ever recorded on land, left 7,350 people dead or missing in November 2013 as it devastated fishing and farming towns that were already among the Philippines' poorest.

The pope celebrated a truncated but still deeply emotional mass for survivors at Tacloban's airport, after receiving a joyous welcome from a crowd that police estimated at about 200,000 people.

"Long live the pope," the crowd chanted as he walked off the plane to be immediately buffeted by strong winds and heavy rain.

His welcome echoed the rapturous reception that millions gave the pontiff during the first two days of his trip to the Philippines.

Most of the people in the crowd at Tacloban wore thin yellow plastic ponchos handed out by organisers, and the pope also put one on before walking on to a nearby stage to celebrate mass in heavy rain.

"I would like to tell you something close to my heart," the pope said as many in the crowd clutched crucifixes and cried.

"When I saw in Rome that catastrophe, I felt I had to be here. And on those very days, I decided to come here. I'm here to be with you."

He acknowledged the enduring pain being experienced by the survivors.

"Some of you have lost part of your families. All I can do is keep silent. And I walk with you all with my silent heart," he said.

The pope declared Jesus would never let them down, and many in the crowd said the pontiff's words had indeed lifted their spirits.

Renewed hope

"I can't explain how I feel. I am filled with gratitude. Never in my life did I think that I'd see a pope," 68-year-old housewife Virginia Torres told AFP, wiping tears and raindrops from her face after the pontiff left the mass venue.

Torres, whose house two hours' drive from Tacloban was wiped out by tsunami-like storm surges, said the pope's address had given her "renewed hope" even while filling her again with pain.

"I was overwhelmed with emotion, especially when he mentioned that he can relate to our suffering... everything that we went through came back."

Relentless storms

The Philippines endures an average of about 20 major storms or typhoons a year, many of them deadly.

But Haiyan was the strongest ever recorded on land, with winds of 315 kilometres (195 miles) per hour.

Tropical Storm Mekkhala, with gusts of up to 130 kilometres (80 miles) per hour, was the first for this year.

The eye of the storm was just 50 kilometres away when his plane took off for Manila, a local weather agency forecaster told AFP.

The storm is forecast to follow the pope west across the Philippines and impact Manila on Sunday, when a crowd of up to six million people is expected to hear him celebrate mass at a park.

Mekkhala would bring strong winds and rain to Manila on Sunday, weather agency forecaster Manny Mendoza told AFP.

"Those banners and tarpaulins on the road may go flying, umbrellas will be blown away, scaffolding could be blown down," Mendoza said.

"Let's hope it weakens."

If as big as expected, the crowd would surpass the previous record for a papal gathering of five million during a mass by John Paul II at the same venue in 1995.

The Philippines has long been the Church's bastion in Asia, with Catholics accounting for 80 percent of the former Spanish colony's population. 

A Pakistani accused of selling fake property rent leases online has been arrested by the Dubai Police.
The accused is identified as PVC, aged 21, and used various sites to sell the counterfeit leases.

The HR-V is Honda’s first new car release in the past few years. The HR-V is basically a CR-V built on the chassis of a Fit/Jazz. While Honda has yet to confirm price and fuel efficiency figures, we expect the HR-V to come with a 1.8 litre SOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine.
 
It will be available in either two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive equipped with Honda’s Real Time AWD.

Aston Martin is looking to revive the Lagonda brand, a favourite in the region, by introducing the new limited-run Taraf model exclusively for the Middle East market.
Following the specifications of the Rapide S, this luxurious model will house a V-12 engine that produces around 600 horsepower, and a completely leather-bound four seat interior.
 
Hand-built at Aston Martin’s manufacturing facilities in Gaydon, sale of this car is by invitation only, the pricing details currently still confidential.

On its fourth birthday, the new A1 gets a face-lift, having changes made to the grille, headlamps, new paint combos and side sills. As for what rumbles under the hood, a range of six newly upgraded engines.

Although looking virtually identical to its predecessor, the new 3-series comes with bigger news under its hood. No official statements were made, but we can expect to see an all-new range of engines based on the 500cc cylinder and a plug-in hybrid with TwinPower Turbo four cylinder petrol engine and a lithium-ion battery.
 
The new 3 series will also be given an updated driver assistance system and control features. The final specification and pricing will be revealed nearer the on-sale date.

A crackdown by Dubai Police on burglaries involving passengers’ luggage at the airports has led to a number of arrests.

Mobile phones and money are the items that top the stolen list, according to the police.

An airport worker, identified as AJ, 27, from Uganda, was recently arrested in the crackdown, caught after stealing a mobile phone. AJ sold the phone to a mobile store outside the aiport for Dh1,800.

The shop owner received a call from the airport police and then identified the accused from a picture.

The accused confessed to a number of thefts, including wristwatches, 13,000 Iraqi dinars and SR5,000.

In a second incident, Dubai Public Prosecutors have asked for maximum punishment for a Kenyan baggage handler, MN, aged 21.

According to the case, the supervisior of the handler said he had received a telephone call from one of the company's workers informing him that the accused opened a bag belonging to an EK flight to Paris and took something from it.

The supervisior ordered the suspect held until his arrival. He then found a mobile phone hidden on the suspect.
